About Coleman
More than 100 years ago, a young man with an entrepreneurial spirit and a better idea began manufacturing lanterns in Wichita, Kansas. His name was W.C. Coleman, and the company he founded would change life in America. A man plagued with such poor vision he sometimes had to ask classmates to read aloud to him, Coleman saw a brilliant light in 1900 in a drugstore window that stopped him in his tracks. He inquired about the light inside and discovered he was able to read even the small print on a medicine bottle by the illumination. The lamps had mantles, not wicks, and were fueled by gasoline under pressure instead of coal oil. Soon afterward, Coleman started a lighting service that offered a "no light, no pay" clause--a big step forward for merchants who were burned by inferior products that rarely worked--and drew substantial interest from businesses that wanted to keep their lights on after dark. In the ensuing years, Coleman expanded its product line well beyond lanterns. The company's current catalog is thick with products that make spending time outdoors a pleasure. There are coolers that keep food and drinks cold for days on end, comfortable airbeds that won't deflate during the night, a complete line of LED lights that last for years, powerful portable grills that cook with an authentic open-grill flame, and much, much more. Coleman has truly fashioned much of our outdoor camping experience, and expects to do so for generations to come.
With so many on offer these days, it is great to have a name you can trust. This item is certainly that and will be a perfect buy. The distributor have added some great touches and this equals great value.

Coleman 12x12 Straight Leg Shelter
I purchased the shelter to use as my work shelter for displays. I also have purchased other ones that are "easy opening and easy up." This one is by far the best. You can put it up by yourself, but is much easier and faster with another person. It with stands wind and rain and was a perfect fit for my job needs.

Couldn't handle the rain.
Had it up less than a week and it held up to the wind pretty well. However, when it rained it didn't shed the water and absorbed it instead. Since the velcro attachements are on the inside I knew I had erected it correctly. After the material soaked up enough water it sagged along the eaves and formed pools which grew large enough to collapse 2 of the roof supports and bent some of the scissor parts along the eaves.
What dissapoints me the most was Coleman's "Suck to be you" attitude when I tried to contact them for replacement parts. Actually their response was tactful but dismissive and apathetic. I used to respect the Coleman name but they are now on my S-list, mainly for not standing behind their product.
Only for sun
We used this for the first time while camping last week. Heavy rain (not hurricane strength, but more thana passing shower) stretched fabric and destroyed frame. Called Coleman customer service and was informed that this shelter was only designed for shade and that any damage from wind or rain was not covered under the warranty.
I gave it 2 stars because it was easy to set up and did provide good shade - just don't expect anything more than that.
