Light, Small, Fluffy....GREAT!
I purchased this pillow after countless nights of camping out and being seriously uncomfortable. The last night I went out backpacking, I slept maybe 3 hours total. I'd wake up, twist, turn, shove shirts/jackets under my head....I decided it was time to pack a pillow so I needed something ultra light and compact and this pillow fits the bill perfectly! I used it for the first time last night in my conversion van and it's the perfect size. Very impressed. If you are into camping/ultralight backpacking/traveling/etc and need a good pillow, you can't go wrong here.
UPDATE: I still like this pillow but have adopted another for my personal needs. Some people can sleep on anything and be comfortable. I'm not like that. I like to have my head up...no laying flat. I ordered another one of these just so that I can have that extra padding. Perfect solution for me. Weighs almost nothing and takes up very little space. Hammock pillow
If you've got the pillow fully opened and lay your head down on it, your head will hit the surface under the pillow in about 3 seconds. The stuffing-tshirts-inside trick works, but it makes the pillow smaller and still isn't much more comfortable than rolling up your extra jacket. If you're a sleeping pad and bag camper, go with the other therma rest compressible pillow, it's great. I'm a hammock camper, and I don't need much head support. This is perfect, forms a nice warm cushion around your head. Not necessary, but a nice added comfort. It's also easy to take; it can compress down to much smaller than it gets by pulling the draw chord
Fluffy
OK... I gave it 5 stars because I liked the pillow being fluffy and light. But you know that down is more fluff than substance--in other words, this pillow works best with something comfortable stuffed under it... which almost defeats the purpose of the pillow... BUT the fluff is enough to make sleeping on your bumpy clothes feel a tad more luxurious than having nothing but clothes. So... it is good for what it is (although expensive). And I'm happy enough with it.
