Extremely durable, long, good bite, and lightweight.
I got a dozen of these from an army surplus store about twelve years ago. I used them every year for almost a decade to stake down tarps, tents, and shade structures at Burning Man in the Black Rock Desert. If you set them at an angle, they really bite into the ground. Never had a problem, even in windstorms.
For most purposes, these things are just as strong as horseshoed rebar, but lighter, more durable, easier to drive into the ground and much easier to remove -- plus, they have a lower profile and the top lip isn't so sharp, so you're a little less likely to trip or cut your foot on them in the dark.
As a bonus, they're cut from angle bar, so they stack up into a compact bundle when hiking or in storage.

not what i expected
Very disappointed when i opened the box especially when in the title of the item it says NEW. Two out of the four tent stakes were bent and i had to hammer them back so they were straight enough to be used and all of the stake were very heavily used with alot of the paint chipped off. After im done fixing them up im sure i can get some use out of them.
