Well Engineered
I appreciate the concept behind this stake set. It was tempted to forgo purchasing this kit and just make do with standard stakes and tie-downs. I was a bit squeamish about paying $50 with shipping for what appeared to be oversized plastic pegs. This is a classic case of good design driving value. Someone went to a lot of thought in engineering this unit, the metal hooks are custom shaped and the solid straps make this highly functional. I particularly appreciate the little velcro loops that hold the free end of the straps in place after tightening. The system functioned well this weekend, albiet in little wind. We'll see how it does in a gust, but I have cause for optimism. It seems like a good idea to transfer the stress of wind load to the canopy superstructure, as opposed to relying on steaks at just the feet. I'm glad I got these. Nice carry bag as well as a bonus. It all fits in the Undercover wheel bag pouch...
